Galneryus' latest album, 'A Cry from the Sky Above', is a mixed bag. While it showcases the band's signature virtuosity and epic song structures, it also suffers from a lack of inspiration and a bloated, lethargic feel. The album's extended runtimes, which are often a strength for Galneryus, become a liability here, with many tracks feeling stretched out and formulaic. The band's signature neoclassical shredding and commanding vocals are still present, but they're often buried under a sea of cheese-filled keyboards and meandering solos. The album's strongest track, 'To the Last Breath', showcases the band's best neoclassical elements, but it's a rarity on an album that feels like a step backward for Galneryus. Despite my love for the band and their style, I can't ignore the flaws. The album is deeply flawed, with a few great tracks and a moving ballad, but it's a disappointment for a band known for their quality and consistency. I hope Galneryus can bounce back with their next release, but for now, 'A Cry from the Sky Above' is a missed opportunity.
